A year of Barcelonogy, capítol 9. Eixample Esquerra
We are still in the Eixample, particularly on the Eixample Esquerra. I walk with Alba Yañez while speaking about theater and good food until we reach the courtyard hidden in 159 of Carrer Consell de Cent. Not far away, there is the studio that photographer Jorge Represa recently opened. A little further up, the American writer Susana Gross shares the story of a hostile Barcelona that gradually transformed into her home. Then, I reach the Diagonal where the philosopher Xavier Rubert de Ventós contextualizes and helps me understand the turbulent times in which we live today. I go down Carrer Enric Granados and turn towards Aragó. There is where I meet Bernat Sans and, as I discover a new concept of the border, we arrive to the Plaça Universitat, we enter the Raval, we cross the Ramblas, the Gothic… We follow the Via Laietana until we reach the Barceloneta and then, once more, the sea.*
Seguimos en el Eixample, concretamente en el Eixample Esquerra. Paseo con Alba Yañez hablando de teatro y de buena comida hasta llegar al patio que que se encuentra escondido en el 159 de la Calle Consejo de Ciento. No muy lejos de allí, está el estudio que el fotógrafo Jorge Represa inauguró no hace mucho. Un poco más arriba, la escritora estadounidense Susana Gross comparte conmigo la historia de una Barcelona hostil que poco a poco, se fue transformando en su casa. Ya junto a la Diagonal, el filósofo Xavier Rubert de Ventós, contextualiza y me ayuda a entender la época convulsa que estamos viviendo. Ahora bajo por Enrique Granados y voy a buscar la calle Aragón, allí me encuentro con Bernat Sans y, mientras me descubre un nuevo concepto de frontera, llegamos a la plaza Universidad, entramos en el Raval, cruzamos las Ramblas, el Gótico… Bajamos la Vía Laietana hasta la Barceloneta y, una vez más, hasta el mar.*

Baixo per Enric Granados i vaig a buscar el carrer Aragó, allà em trobo amb en Bernat Sans i, mentre em descobreix un nou concepte de frontera, arribem a la plaça Universitat, entrem al Raval, creuem les Rambles, el Gòtic… Baixem la Via Laietana fins la Barceloneta i, de nou, fins al mar.*
